The piquin chilli pepper is a small but fiery chilli. They’re around 20 times hotter than jalapeños but less than an inch long. They’re often used to make chilli oils or hot sauce, but can also be used in marinades for red meat or to add heat to tomato-based sauces. Piquins have a citrus spiciness and bitter chocolate notes which works well with rich flavours like tomato. Their intense heat makes them perfect for hot sauce or chilli-infused oils.
